Reid Scott

Realty Reality

Madison Hildebrand, self-styled "King of Malibu" on Bravo's reality show Million Dollar Listing, has sold more than $80 million in real estate in the past 30 months. The 27 year-old is among the top 2% of Coldwell Banker agents; he's also vice president of the Green Machine Project, dedicated to improving Malibu's aesthetic beauty. And now—don't tell his mother—he's also a Playgirl centerfold.

Question. I understand you just closed a $6.25 million home. Are you going to celebrate?
Answer. I used to celebrate all day, I would be so happy. Lately, it's more like, omigosh, we had a closing. This will be a celebration. I'm going to the spa for sure, either the Four Seasons [Westlake Village] or for deep tissue at Burke Williams. I'll go out to dinner as well. In Malibu, for me, it's pretty much Nobu—the lobster special, yellowtail jalapeño or tiradito sashimi. I eat out about four times a week. On Wednesday, I like Geisha House in Hollywood, Thursday, Gonpachi on La Cienega Boulevard. Mostly Japanese, apparently, but I do switch it it up. Casa Escobar is a nice Mexican spot in Malibu.

Q. Do you go to clubs?
A. The Green Door. Tuesday is jazz night, but after 12:30 there's a deejay—I like jazz people, but I don't like jazz.

Q. What are your passions other than real estate?
A.I surf, I kayak, I have two dogs. I hike in Bonsall Canyon, a great canyon where you can go and go and go—I've never been to the end. The views are spectacular and there's a lot of wildlife. I make time for traveling and for my family. I live next door to my brother in Point Dume. My office is in Point Dume; I walk to work. Speaking of passion, my book Activate Your Passion, Create Your Career just came out. You can find it at BookSurge.com.

Q. What are your favorite beaches?
A. Westward Beach, near Zuma County Beach, is a great sandy beach with good waves. Big Dume Beach is the outermost peninsula of Point Dume, all state land, never crowded. You park and walk down a flight of stairs; you walk across the headlands, and you feel like you're in another country. I call it "Secret Beach." I saw a redtail fox there once. Next to that is Little Dume, but it's private.

Q. Where do you buy clothes you'd wear to show a property?
A. Fred Segal or Polo Ralph Lauren. The outfits work day or night. It's not that formal to work in Malibu. Never a suit, nope. It's L.A., after all.

Q. What else is front and center in your life?
A. I'm on the cover of the September/October issue of Playgirl; it's out now. We're talking full-on cover and centerfold. It [doesn't show] everything everything, just enough to get the imagination going. When my mother gets this in her hand, she's going to die. She was raised Mormon. But you only live once.
